Research excellence prize
This prize recognises outstanding scientific performance. It can, for example relate to exceptional personal contribution to the progression of projects (innovation, problem solving, the completion of very high quality work), the publication of major papers or patents or other relevant outputs, invited presentations at International conferences, obtaining of prizes or external funding, for the establishment of new collaborations, etc. that exceeded typical expectations.
Postdoc citizenship prize
This category recognises postdoc involvement in QUB business through, for example: the organisation of events (e.g. conferences, symposia, courses, laboratory research meetings, journal clubs, etc.), active committee work (e.g. contributions and outcomes) or volunteering for students’ activities (e.g. chairing/judging at symposium), etc.
Outstanding engagement prize
This prize recognises postdoc involvement in public engagement activities including (but not limited to) outreach events, school visits, science communication (e.g. science news, blogs, vlogs…), community consultation, the development of links with policy makers, commercial companies and / or stakeholders.
If public engagement activities are the main component of the research project, consider nominating the postdoc for the Research Excellence prize instead as this prize rewards public engagement activities carried out on the side of the main research project.
Exceptional support prize
This prize recognises outstanding postdoc involvement in the supervision, training and mentoring of students and fellow staff members (please highlight the quality of the supervision and not just the number of students supervised) and teaching. Substantial involvement in general lab management, Health & Safety and administrative or research-related tasks in support of the PI are also included in this category.
