The MHLS Postdoctoral Development Centre provides interviews to help postdocs and other interested individuals gain insight on career paths outside of the academic world.
Interviews usually take place the last Friday of the month around lunchtime and are co-organised by the PDC and local postdoc reps and committees from all the MHLS Faculty's Schools and Centres, to ensure relevance to all. They take place via MS Teams and involve set questions asked by the chair and time for attendees to ask additional questions via the chat. While guests are usually chosen to have a PhD background, all staff and students are welcome.
The February 2021 interview is organised by Lauren Cairns and Craig Davison, postdoc reps in the Patrick G. Johnston Centre for Cancer Research. It will feature Dr Donna Small, lecturer in the centre, and Dr Sarah Dolan, Commercial Manager in Medical Nutrition for Galen Ltd. Following a postdoc in CCRCB at Queen's, Sarah joined Galen Ltd, first as European Medical Science Liaison in Oncology, then becoming a Medical Manager and now Commercial Manager. Sarah's roles have involved discussing the data relative to Galen's drug candidates and products with relevant stakeholders to promote clinical trials, investigate commercial potential and informing strategic business development.
Registered participants will be sent a Teams link closer to the date but should hold the time in their calendar right away.
Attendees will be able to ask questions using the MS Teams chat.
If the quality of the sound allows it and the guests agree, the conversation could later be made accessible as a podcast (but cannot be guaranteed).
