While postdocs do much more than just lab work, their technical and analytical skills are key to successful experiments!
Most of these skills will be learnt via your PI and group members but some additional resources are available, notably in the field of data analysis.

Peer-led methods programme
Postdocs able to teach their peers a specific technique (experimental procedure, use of complicated piece of equipment, use of software…) can be funded up to £500 per day to provide a training course (preparation time included). A minimum of 20 postdocs need to be willing to attend the training. This funding is provided by Research and Enterprise and the programme coordinated by Organisational Development. For more information and to apply, download the application form and follow the instructions.
Previous courses delivered by postdocs include for example STATA and R.
Training at the Core Technology Units (CTUs)
The Faculty CTUs are facilities providing instruments, software, expertise and training in the areas of Advanced Informatics, Genomics, Mass spectrometry, Advanced Imaging and Biological services (in vivo). Contact the CTUs for more details on the training offer.

Wellcome Genome Campus Advanced Courses and Scientific Conferences
The Wellcome Genome Campus organises workshops and conferences on specific research topics and methods. Bursaries are usually available.
Peer-shadowing
A lot can be learnt by shadowing the work of a fellow postdoc. Do not hesitate to contact your peers via your ambassadors or by asking the PDC to put a request for you in the newsletter or information emails.
High demand training needs
If you and a significant number of postdocs (and/or other staff and students) require training in a specific skill which would require an external facilitator to come, contact your School or research Centre for help. The PDC may in some cases be able to help depending on the demand and budget available.
Attending external training courses
How about going to learn a technique in a collaborator's lab, industrial partner's lab or by attending a course provided externally? You can apply for external funding calls (search with Research Professional for example).
