SARC hosts creative industries breakfast as part of NYU visit to Queen's

The Sonic Arts Research Centre (SARC) at Queen's University Belfast recently hosted a delegation from the New York University's (NYU) Steinhardt School of Music and Performing Arts and the NYU Abu Dhabi campus.

SARC hosted a Future Screens NI partner breakfast, bringing together NYU colleagues and creative industry partners in Northern Ireland to discuss immersive technologies, including those applied to sound and music.

Dr Franziska Schroeder, Senior Lecturer from the School of Arts, English and Languages at Queen's said:

"We were delighted to host colleagues from New York University's Steinhardt School of Music and Performing Arts and NYU Abu Dhabi at SARC.

"The group met with industry partners in Northern Ireland to explore and discuss the amazing research happening in areas such as digital technologies, virtual reality, sound, and post-conflict history. We look forward to sharing ideas and collaborating together in the future."

NYU delegates will spend a number of days working collaboratively on the use of digital technologies and virtual reality in immersive audio with colleagues at SARC, including Dr Franziska Schroeder and Professor Pedro Rebelo. They will also meet with colleagues from across the Faculty of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences to find out more about research in areas such as public history, literature and Irish studies.
