Human Resources Directorate

Brian Parkes

People and Culture is one of the three enablers of our Corporate Plan and in preparation for creating a People and Culture Strategy for the University, the Human Resources Directorate has recently completed a major restructure.

The Directorate, which provides a comprehensive HR service, now consists of six departments with particular responsibilities for: Organisational Development; Diversity and Inclusion; HR Business Partnering; Resourcing; HR Services; and Reward and Employee Relations.

The Directorate is currently taking forward a number of key priorities, including: the People and Culture Strategy; the University's new five-year Equality Scheme; the newly created HR Centres of Expertise and HR Services; and redesigning our approach to staff recruitment, and creating an employer brand.

Brian Parkes, Human Resources Director, said: "This is a significant change for the Directorate, but I think it is the right one to ensure that we have more expertise inside HR to support our HR Business Partners.  My new team has four internal promotions as well as two external hires.  Developing internal talent is important for all of us, and I’m delighted I was able to do this as part of the restructure."
