Principles Underpinning the Appraisal Process
Appraisal provides an opportunity to review the performance and development needs of staff, both of which are integral to the appraisal process.
Appraisal involves the appraiser and the member of staff in reviewing the performance and planning the work and development needs of the member of staff within the overall context of the University strategy, Faculty/School/Directorate strategy. It is an essential part of the University's commitment to developing its staff delivering high quality services and attaining the major goals set out in Vision 2020 and supporting documentation (ie: Corporate Plan/School Plans etc). Appraisers can now register for skills training via iTrent at: Training for Appraisers of Academic & Research Staff and Training for Appraisers of Staff Grades 3 - 10b
Appraisal provides a clear link between the individual’s work and the targets set out in the School/Directorate priorities. It provides an opportunity to discuss short and long-term career aspirations and learning and development needs. Click here for more details about the principles and operation of the scheme.
Appraisal provides a valuable opportunity to highlight our core values and professional standards which represent the beliefs, behaviours and aspirations that all staff working at Queen’s should share.
