Pay and Reward

Salary - Salaries are competitive in the UK University sector and the Northern Ireland market.  The University operates salary scales which provide incremental progression and the possibility of earning additional rewards for exceptional contribution.

Pension - A contributory pension scheme is operated which provides excellent retirement benefits.  In addition to the employee’s contribution, the University, as the employer, makes a considerable contribution.

Exceptional Contribution Awards - The University is committed to rewarding staff whose performance is considered to be at an outstanding level, and operates schemes which allow those who provide excellent contribution to receive an accelerated increment or addition to their salary.

Relocation Expenses - Financial assistance is provided to newly appointed staff who incur expenses in moving home, from outside of Northern Ireland.

Progression & Promotion - Promotion, while not a right, is a legitimate aspiration for every member of staff and this aspiration is fostered by developing individuals’ careers through regular appraisal and the provision of development opportunities.

Travel Loans - Salaried employees can avail of a significant interest free loan towards the purchase of an annual travel card.

Perks- All University staff are provided with a PERKS directory containing many discounts for shopping, meals, social activities and hotel accommodation.

Child Care Vouchers - Parents can give up or “sacrifice” part of their wages or salary in exchange for Childcare Vouchers as a more flexible way to meet the costs of childcare.

Benefits+ - (Salary Sacrifice) - A salary sacrifice scheme is operated for childcare, pensions, car-parking and cycle to work payments.  As a member of the scheme, the amount of earnings on which you pay tax and national insurance is reduced by the values of salary sacrificed for these benefits, thus increasing your take home pay.
