  • PDR - Support Available for Staff

PDR - Support Available for Staff

Some significant changes have been made in the transition from Appraisal to PDR and the new Academic Progression process in response to the feedback received from staff. Staff should also be reassured that Year One (2019-20) is being treated as a transition period; it is anticipated that PDR and Academic Progression will continue to evolve over time and in response to the feedback gathered as staff participate in the new process during the initial year.

We want to ensure that the transition to PDR and Academic Progression is as simple as possible, and as such, comprehensive support is available for all staff. In particular, everything you need to know about the new process in order to take part in either PDR and Academic Progression in a meaningful way can be found in the following downloadable Guidance Booklets.

  • PDR Guidance Booklet
  • Academic Progression Guidance Booklet

You can request a hard copy of the PDR and/or Academic Progression Guidance, email: reward@qub.ac.uk

*Please note, in line with our Environmental Commitments, we recommend you only request a hard copy if absolutely required.

Details of additional support available, including Skills Sessions for Reviewer and Reviewees, can be found by clicking on the expandable sections below.

  • PDR SKILLS FOR REVIEWERS AND REVIEWEES (Registration Required)

    What does this involve?

Comprehensive Learning and Development support is available for Reviewees and Reviewers. These sessions will be delivered regularly up until the end of the transition year PDR Cycle (end of June 2020). From July 2020, PDR Skills Sessions will take place on an ongoing basis as part of the core Queen’s Learning and Development offering.

Please note PDR Skills development events are not 'mandatory'. Attendance will build skills and improve PDR for all staff. PDR skills workshops are designed to complement the PDR guidance but are not process/information briefings.

Participants should seek further advice from their line manager or HR Business Partner if there are specific questions relating to PDR or Academic Progression, as these may not be addressed during these skills sessions.

We are currently operating a registration list for these session in order to meet demand and ensure the best use of time and resource.

Please register your interest in attending a PDR Skills Workshop here, and we will contact you with further dates in due course.

    Session Overview:

    PDR Skills Sessions for Reviewees.

    PDR Skills for Reviewers.

    How will this benefit me?

The PDR Skills Sessions will ensure that Reviewers and Reviewees have the skills required to take part in PDR. These practical workshop sessions for Reviewers and Reviewees will include support and resources to develop skills to participate effectively in PDR conversations.

  • PDR SKILLS - ADDITIONAL LEARNING RESOURCES

As the PDR skills development workshops for Reviewers and Reviewees are not mandatory, and many staff already have relevant experience, should you choose not to attend a workshop, some additional learning resources are provided below. These are available to download and use to help staff prepare, and have meaningful, ongoing PDR conversations.

    • PDR Conversations – Resources for Reviewees
    • PDR Conversations – Resources for Reviewers
    • PDR Resource Pack
    • Development Conversations Guide
    • Developing and Agreeing Priorities Guide
