QUEEN'S ACTIVITY CHALLENGE 2020
Monday 15 June 2020 – Friday 10 July 2020
This year, instead of the Pedometer Challenge, we are encouraging staff to take part in doing a daily physical activity.
With the summer coming up and the restrictions on the pandemic lockdown starting to ease up a little, Staff Wellbeing and the Environmental Team are pleased to announce the Queen’s Activity Challenge. This year, instead of the Pedometer Challenge, we are encouraging staff to take part in doing a daily physical activity. During the Activity Challenge, it is important to adhere to government guidelines and regulations on social distancing and travel. Information can be found here.
As these activities can be anything from a walk, run, cycle or home workout, this year, the challenge will not measure distance travelled, rather the time spent exercising. A good starting point is the Queen’s Sport YouTube channel, please visit their channel to see the range of classes provided and join in from the comfort of your own home. For safety tips when cycling please view the Government safety guidelines here.
Whether you’re exercising in your surrounding area, a park or your garden, getting outdoors can boost your mood and reduce anxiety. It’s also a good time to be more connected and taking the time to enjoy the moment and the environment around you. Please share any tips or photos on our Twitter page or email us at email@example.com.
To take part in the Activity Challenge, please follow the below steps:
- Download the Strava App
- If you do not wish to use the Strava App, we are able to take information for your activities via email. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org with your information.
This year, we are using the Strava App to allow everyone to record all the activities that you do during the challenge. The app is free to download from both the Google Play Store and Apple App Store. Once the app is downloaded, join the “Queen’s University Activity Challenge 2020” club. For further information on how to download and set up the App as well as how to join the club and how to record activities, please click here.
We will be raising funds for Action Mental Health as our partner for this challenge. Keep an eye out on social media on their tips during the challenge and information on the benefits of physical activity for your mental health. To donate, please visit the Just Giving Page. The recommended donation is £5.00.
Although the Strava App will not group you as a team, should you wish to take part as team, please complete the Microsoft Form with the team name and members, and will we collate the information and data manually. The Form can be found here. There will be prizes for the best Social Media (use #QUBActivityChallenge2020) and Most Activity for both Individual and Team as well as the Most Improved!
Best of Luck!
