As you are aware, the COVID-19 pandemic is a rapidly evolving situation and Queen’s University Belfast is working hard to make decisions and implement precautionary measures to protect the health and wellbeing of our staff, students and candidates.
Following the announcement from the Prime Minister on Monday 23 March for the UK to stay at home as a measure to prevent the spread of the coronavirus, Queen’s, like many other institutions and businesses, are implementing virtual interviews until further notice. We have routinely used virtual interviews for candidates who cannot travel to Belfast to have a face-to-face interview but are now making the move for all interviews to move virtually.
The virtual interview will normally be through either Skype or Microsoft Teams.
The interview panel will contact you via Microsoft Teams at the time of your interview for you to join the virtual meeting, please be prepared with Teams open. If you haven’t used Teams before for a meeting, when you are contacted you need to select ‘Join’ and leave your camera and microphone on. When booking your interview slot, you will be requested to provide your SkypeID to the Resourcing Team usually 72 hours before the interview is due to take place. The panel will contact you via Skype at the time of the interview. Please ensure you are aware of the functionality of skype and test this is out prior to your interview. We also have some basic instructions for Skype below.
If you are asked to carry out a presentation as part of your interview the panel will have access to this but you will also be asked to share your screen showing the presentation while you are presenting.
We would advise that if you haven’t used virtual meetings previously that you have a trial run.
