Leisure and Wellbeing

  • LEISURE AND WELLBEING

Queen’s recognises the importance of Staff Wellbeing inside the workplace.

The University offers numerous Wellbeing programmes to create awareness and improve the health of staff, including planned and regular health promotion events tied in with national campaigns. Occupational Health provide a wide range of services to the University for the prevention of work related injury or ill-health.

  • DIVERSITY

Queen’s is proud to play a key role in the internationalisation of Northern Ireland. Please browse the Diversity and Inclusion webpages to find out more about workplace policies, news, details of staff training, outreach events, activities and campaigns.

iRise provides a forum for networking and a means of peer support between BAME and International staff.

The Gender Initiative provides a channel for women’s views on priority issues. In support of the University’s commitment to promoting leadership development and career progression for women, Queen’s also supports female staff to attend the Advance HE Aurora leadership development programme.

PRISM LGBT Staff Network is a friendly, informal way to meet with LGBT+ colleagues at the University and discuss ideas to get involved in workplace activities - both formal and informal.

  • QUEEN'S SPORT

The University has sporting facilities that are second to none, which staff can avail of. Queen’s Sport is on the doorstep of the main campus and staff enjoy reduced membership rates. If you are a member of the Physical Education Centre (PEC) and wish to be partnered with another member of staff for team sports such as squash or handball, please email activecampus@qub.ac.uk. Literally a hidden gem, the QFT is nestled behind the Georgian façade of 20 University Square. Presenting the best in classic and new world cinema, in an intimate space, it's a unique cultural venue.

  • THE BRIAN FRIEL THEATRE

Located in the Drama & Film Centre which opened in 2004, the Brian Friel Theatre is one of the best equipped theatres in Belfast with a 120 seat studio theatre, rehearsal room, dressing rooms, green room and workshop.

  • THE NAUGHTON GALLERY

The gallery presents a rolling programme of contemporary exhibitions but also runs an extensive programme of talks, screenings, and special events including a book club and coffee mornings in association with the Belfast Coffee Map.

  • OPEN LEARNING

For many courses, a concessionary fee is available to members of staff.

  • INTERNATIONAL STAFF BUDDY SCHEME

The aim of the international buddy scheme is to provide a friendly welcome for new international staff, helping them to settle into life in Belfast and at Queen’s University. We also hope that the scheme will further promote integration and cultural exchange at Queen’s. If you would like to volunteer to become a buddy for incoming international staff, please contact International Staff Support.

  • RELIGIOUS SERVICES AND PLACES OF WORSHIP
