The Queen’s Summer Club is a four-week programme that runs for one week in July and three weeks in August. This year the July dates are Monday 1 July - Friday 5 July (inclusive) and our August dates are Monday 12 August - Friday 30 August. The club is located at 5 Rugby Road and operates from 8.45am - 5.45pm and we cater for children aged 4 to 11 years old. Separate from the Queen’s Sport Summer Scheme, which is mainly sport orientated, we offer a more leisurely experience with an emphasis on creativity and consider what the children themselves are interested in.
Each day includes a craft, a cooking lesson, free play and there is an outing planned for during the week. Each week is themed, for example, one of our weeks is ‘Holidays’. During this week children will get to enjoy a trip to Seapark with a picnic on the beach. For crafts we create our own passports, build under the sea and beach landscapes with different textures and materials and we also design boats and kites, making sure to incorporate shells, sand and pebbles. Keeping with the theme, a few examples of cooking sessions may include watermelon coolers, vegetable boats, fish and chips, ice lollies or mermaid milkshakes.
