Study Tour - Bioscience

A varied schedule with a focus on visits to a number of employers over a three-day period between 27th and 29th May 2020. 

Employers are located in the Dublin area.

Sessions have included presentations on the science industry undertaken within the various employers visited, the drug discovery (research and development) process, careers outside the laboratory (clinical trials, regulatory affairs, commercial roles) as well as an evening where students get to meet Queen’s graduates who have relocated.

Part of the tour involves skills based sessions with a focus on applications and interview skills. 

Employers visited on previous tours have included GSK, Roche, MSD, Immunocore, Heptares, SRG (Science recruitment), Oxford Bioscience network, Isansys, Psioxus Therapeutics and Neusentis (formerly a Pfizer company) Students complete a Certificate in Workplace Learning which is accredited by Degree Plus (Formerly Route A)

• Open primarily to students in the School of Biological Sciences - and also to BSc Biomedical Science and BSc Pharmaceutical Science students
• Out of 24 places, 20 will typically be allocated to School of Biological Science students
• Students will have an interest in working in the Life Sciences industries, including areas such as biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries.
• Preference will be given to applicants who have not already participated in a Workplace Study Tour
 
Cost: £75 per student. Includes transport and accommodation. The University centrally, as well as your School significantly subsidises students on the tour.
 
All students applying must be available to attend a pre-departure workshop in April.
