Children's Rights at Queen's

Children’s Rights at Queen’s is a new initiative which trains Queen’s University students to go into schools in Northern Ireland to raise young people’s awareness and understanding of their rights under the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child.

Doctoral students at the Centre for Children’s Rights at Queen’s University Belfast developed this pack in collaboration with Peer Advisory Groups of young people at two schools in Northern Ireland.

The activities are aimed at primary students in P6 and P7, and secondary students in Forms 1 and 2.

This programme contains activity plans and photo-copiable resources to be used by facilitators in schools. It also contains ideas to continue the study of rights after the visit as well as information on relevant child rights organisations.

Children who participate are also offered the opportunity to take part in achieving a prize via the CRAQ initiative where they are encouraged to design a video, poster or forum to promote rights and have the opportunity to win a t-shirt if successful.
