Summer Humanitarian Project - Malawi
Our team of 5 medical students aims to participate and coordinate with local efforts to create awareness of HIV/AIDS and to educate the local community on prevention and treatment.
This will be a 1 month project that spans 14 villages and 4 orphanages.
We will be working alongside community village groups and community home based care groups.
Due to poverty, rural infrastructure and poor access to education, there is an urgent need for more public education.
Providing young people, especially girls, with the 'social vaccine' of education offers them a real chance at a productive life. Not only is education important for preventing HIV; preventing HIV is also essential for education.
