Scout Association Adult Leader Training Scheme
While the Scout Association's primary purpose is the development of young people, it also seeks to offer personal development opportunities to its adult volunteers (many of whom are university students), both within their volunteer role as leaders and helpers in Scouting, and as individual.
The Adult Training Scheme (Woodbadge) is one means by which adults in Scouting can be supported. The scheme is modular and recognises prior learning, experience and knowledge where appropriate.
There is an emphasis on practical skills and small group work, complemented by e-learning, DVDs and workbooks. Achievement of learning outcomes is validated by an approved Training Advisor.
The training scheme is externally recognised by Gateway Qualifications, Institute of Leadership and Management and Institute of Training and Occupational Learning.
