Washington Ireland
The Washington-Ireland Program for Service and Leadership (WIP), is a year long program of personal and professional development that brings outstanding university students from Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland to Washington, DC for summer work placements and leadership training. The program begins and ends with service.
Participants have the opportunity to learn from leading political and social leaders and are encouraged to think critically about their own role in society. In Washington, participants gain first-hand experience of a mature political process and are exposed to a culture of diversity. WIP participants are formed into a team and challenged to develop their vision for the future of Northern Ireland and Ireland. Students gain professional experience, interpersonal skills and as well as a new confidence in their ability to work together to make a difference.
