This Student Led Activity will be presented by the Student Steering Committee of the Gender Network at Queens University Belfast.
Rape culture is the social and cultural ways in which we trivialize, normalize, and naturalize rape and sexual assault. This includes cultural practices like the way we talk about sex, sexuality, gender, and sexual assault, the way we portray people and sexuality in the media, the laws and institutions we have created, and the beliefs we ascribe to in our daily lives.
We can change how we understand sexuality and prevent sexual violence. We envision a culture in which consent is the norm for sexual expression. Beyond dreaming about it, we're asking for it!
Join us for an open, inclusive roundtable discussion with Hareem Ghani - NUS Women's Officer, Hamsavani Rajeswaren - NUS Women's Officer and Dr Yassin Brunger – School of Law, Director of the Gender Network
