Meeting at Students Union, departing to Bellaghy.
This Student Led event is an opportunity for students from all pathways to visit Heaney Homeplace in Bellaghy. On arrival there will be a guided tour with an audio guide in which attendees will learn not only about Seamus Heaney’s poetry, but also about the Northern Irish culture in which he grew up. This guided tour is followed by a poetry reading in the oldest thatched pub in Northern Ireland, providing attendees the opportunity to experience poetry in a cultural setting.
The event format will be as follows:
12.00pm Leave Students Union
1.00pm Commence tour of Seamus Heaney Homeplace
2:45pm Leave Seamus Heaney Homeplace
3.00pm Arrive at Crosskeys Inn for poetry reading and sandwiches
5.00pm Leave Crosskeys Inn
6.00pm Arrive back in Belfast at Students Union
