STEM Ambassador Training for any QUB students or staff in a STEM discipline.
The STEM Ambassador Programme is a UK-wide initiative and FREE of CHARGE service to schools and youth groups, which aims to encourage young people to have an interest in studying and following a career in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths). By becoming a STEM Ambassador, you can play a crucial role in inspiring young people with STEM-related subjects and careers. This event will provide the opportunity to be a fully trained STEM Ambassador, in just two hours, through the following;
- A quick overview of what a STEM Ambassador is and how they help support local schools and youth groups.
- An example of some of the interesting activities you could run.
- Then mandatory training will be completed, for those who wish to sign-up.
- The session ends with I.D verification, for those who brought them along. This is to meet the requirements for a free Enhanced Disclosure Check to allow you to start volunteering with young people. More information on the ID documents required can be found through https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/dbs-identity-checking-guidelines
