Description: For anyone interested in a career involving marine vertebrates, biologging (animal borne data loggers) and satellite tracking are two important tools in the box. Queen’s is a leading institute in both fields with studies underway in all of the world’s oceans on species as diverse as ocean sunfish through to sea turtles, bluefin tuna and basking sharks. These development week activities will provide you with an introduction to the technology involved, the ethics of animal tracking and biologging and the type of questions you can answer. The day will include hands on experience of radio tracking and experience of working with camera footage and electronic data gathered from marine vertebrates during recent QUB research programmes.
