"Making of a Magazine"-Editing The Edit
20/05/2019 - 20/05/2019
1:00PM - 3:00PM
Utilising examples of features, articles and interviews in issues 9-12 of The Edit, our editors will discuss the process of making an issue of our magazine and how students can use these transferable skills to gain experience in Journalism. Presentations will disseminate key tips on how to discover a theme for your issue, how to recruit writers and editors who are experts in your theme, and how to Edit these articles and bind them into a unique artwork and design layout. As The Edit is a careers based magazine, themes may focus on global and industry based career opportunities, but as our editors have experience in current affairs writing with the gown, these skills will be transferable. Presentations will be followed by several group activities, a chance for attendees to work, collaborate and network with students interested in media and journalism in designing their own issue, with a plan to be presented at the end, developing team-work, presentational and time-management skills.
Students will be required to book to attend this event.
