1. Understand your career options

Once you know the type of work you want to pursue you can ensure you develop the skills and experience most sought by employers in those areas. See our 10 tips for identifying and exploring career options and our Career Planning resources.



2. Get some work / volunteering experience - (and gain DegreePlus!)

Part-time workinformation about Oncampus Jobs, links to useful websites and tips for finding part-time work. 

Volunteering- find local and international volunteering opportunities

Internships- find summer internships for students and graduate internship opportunities



3. Get some international experience - (and gain DegreePlus!)

Identify opportunities to gain experience of living and working in another country through our Global Opportunities webpages pages



4. Meet with industry professionals and potential employers


5. Participate in one of Queen's Career Development Programmes - (and gain DegreePlus!)

Careers, Employability and Skills manage a number of Career Development Programmes to help you enhance your commercial awareness and build your professional network such as our:

  • Workplace Study Tours (e.g. to Brussels, to City Law firms, to Bioscience companies)
  • Insight into Management – 3 days of interactive business games

 For Postgraduate students, the Graduate School also provide a lot of support for Development and Future Readiness.


6. Look at the range of other employability-enhancing activities listed on the DegreePlus website 

Get Degree Plus accreditation for engaging in activities such as: Peer Mentoring, Milenium Volunteers, Course Representation, Belfast Enterprise Academy


7. Get Inspiration
