What have you done in addition to your degree to enhance your employability and what do you feel you’ve gained from this?
I went on an Erasmus work placement to HEC Paris, the number one business school in Europe. My placement was invaluable; both on a professional and a personal level. I was in a professional environment speaking French every day so my language skills as well as transferable skills improved tenfold.
After my placement in France I gained an internship in Macmillan Cancer Support’s head office in London, over the summer, where I worked as a Corporate Partnerships Intern – supporting fundraising for some of their biggest corporate partners such as Marks & Spencer and Poundland. The skills I gained in France were, without a doubt, one of the main reasons that I got the internship. On a personal level, I gained so much confidence over the 9 months that I was in France and I met people from all walks of life, who I know will be friends for life.
Any advice for other Queen's students?
If I could give any word of advice to other students at Queens, it would be to go on an Erasmus placement or study semester. The life experience you gain, the friends you meet, the new places you see, the skills you gain that you can put on your CV are so invaluable and I would definitely recommend it to others.
