We are delighted to announce that for Thursday 4 March we will be reading Anna Burns' novel The Milkman. The Milkman won the Orwell and Man Booker Prize in 2019 and 2018 respectively and was shortlisted for the Women's Prize for Fiction in 2019.

"In this unnamed city, to be interesting is dangerous. Middle sister, our protagonist, is busy attempting to keep her mother from discovering her maybe-boyfriend and to keep everyone in the dark about her encounter with Milkman. But when first brother-in-law sniffs out her struggle, and rumours start to swell, middle sister becomes 'interesting'. The last thing she ever wanted to be. To be interesting is to be noticed and to be noticed is dangerous."

We only ask that you read the first chapter of the novel (9 pages) which we will provide to you after registration.

*Note: Feel free to participate in whatever way works for you.

This event is being organised as part of the #QUBeWell University Mental Health Week (1-5 March 2021). To view the rest of the Programme, please click here
