The Queen's Senior Academy is a two-year programme supporting Year 13 into Year 14 participants in non-selective secondary schools and further education colleges to develop their potential to progress to Higher Education, including Queen's University Belfast.
Across Northern Ireland approximately fifty pupils will be nominated by either teachers, Year Head or Head of Careers to take part in the programme of activities, workshops and events designed to develop academic and personal skills.
The Queen’s Senior Academy programme supports participants who are motivated and committed to achieving their greatest academic potential. We endeavour to provide the best environment for students to learn about university life and develop the academic skills required for undergraduate study.
One of the key aspects of university life is independent study, and the Senior Academy participants have the opportunity to be responsible for their own learning and to develop skills to manage their time effectively. By providing subject specific tutors, we hope that our participants will not only further develop their knowledge of the subject(s) but also acquire exam skills and techniques that will stay with them in further study.
