+ Project Description

It is projected that by 2035 25% of new vehicles sold in UK will be autonomous. Among key technologies enabling the autonomous operation of a vehicle stands the mm-wave radar sensor that allows obstacle detection at distances from few to hundreds meters. The research will concentrate on new W-band automotive radar sensor antenna system. The study will explore novel antenna architectures, integration of W-band sensor with other augmenting technologies such as infrared sensors, and integration of the antenna with embedded active circuitry.

+ Requirements

Students with a 2.1 or first class degree in electronic engineering and physics are welcome to apply. The research will require understanding of fundamentals of electromagnetic theory, and experience electromagnetic simulations and laboratory measurements.
