Introduction

The global HIV pandemic remains a serious threat and challenge to public health. Over the last ten years, advances in treatment have improved the quality of life for people living with HIV. As a result, HIV has moved towards classification as a chronic condition in the developed world. While advances in treatment have tended to be viewed as having a positive psychological impact by providing hope, new challenges are faced by those living with HIV in this shifting time. One of the major challenges is centered on reproductive decision-making, as more men and women living with HIV are choosing to become natural parents. Therefore it is important that healthcare professionals working in the area of reproductive health feel prepared to support men and women affected by HIV along their reproductive journey.

In this video, Dr Carmel Kelly outlines the target audience for this resource and explains how it has been updated since first developed in 2014.
