The Irish language is fast growing in Belfast and further afield across all sectors of society. This module provides students with an intensive introduction to the language: grammar, comprehension, spoken, translation, expressive and descriptive writing. It will also equip them with professional and employability skills complementary to their studies.
This module aims to equip students to learn and develop the necessary proficiency in grammatical, written, and spoken language skills. It will also equip them with professional and employability skills complementary to their studies. Written language seminars introduce students to language in context. Students are exposed to new vocabulary, expressions and nuances of use through reading, translation and writing exercises based on a variety of sources. Spoken language class develops students’ listening and speaking skills in the language.
On successful completion of the module, students should have developed the following range of skills: dexterity using grammar; translation skills; text analysis; comprehension; essay writing; lexicographical skills; IT skills; presentation skills; spoken language skills.
