Join us to officially kick off QUB Postgraduate Welcome Week with The Graduate School Check In Breakfast and Welcome Address.

A Welcome Address will take place at 10.45 where you get a chance to hear what The Graduate School has to offer the postgraduate community at Queen's University Belfast. 

This is a great opportunity to network, meet a range of postgraduate students from all disciplines, and to find out what opportunities are on offer during Welcome Week and the academic year ahead!

Join us on Tuesday 18 September at 14.00 for a Meditation Session led by Orla Wallace from Flow Studio Belfast. The class will integrate mindful movement, relaxation and seated meditation.

How to start your LinkedIn Profile

LinkedIn is an invaluable online tool for you to network and job search. This session is for postgraduate students who don’t yet have a LinkedIn profile but would like to start creating one.

Join us for this introductory session – you are welcome to bring your laptop or tablet to start practising or just come along.

Creating Your Communication Toolkit

Wednesday 19 September, 12.00-13.00, Training Room 7

In this taster session you will be introduced to the dynamics of face-to-face communication. You will be given an overview of how communication works at its best, identifying where it can go wrong and how you can be more in charge of the communication dynamics focusing on how your voice works and considering the importance of body language to create great first and lasting impressions.

 

We will be looking for those small changes to our words, tone and body language that might make a big difference next time. The strategies and techniques discussed in this short session will help you create your own communication tool Kit which with further practice, will help you to achieve the needed confidence to use your communication power to create positive impacts.

Deciding to become a postgraduate student is no small feat and it is important that you make the most of this journey.  Life design provides you with a practical approach to being proactive in your own life and where it is going.  It’s about connecting to yourself, taking the wheel and starting to steer this ship you are sailing. 

In this collaborative taster workshop, we will give you an overview of what life design is, introduce you to tools that can help you explore and reflect on your own life, to help you take the first steps to design a life and postgraduate journey that works for you.

Official Postgraduate Welcome & Taste of Belfast

Official Postgraduate Welcome & Taste of Belfast

Join us on the evening of Thursday 20 September from 16.00 at The Graduate School for your Official Postgraduate Welcome and 'Taste of Belfast' event.

Sample some local Northern Irish cuisine, enjoy traditional live Irish music and more importantly a bit of craic!

Partake in a range of interactive and participatory activites on the night, including a digital detox, Taste Testing session and flag design competition.

Our Postgraduate Experience Fair will include representatives from a diverse range of services at Queen’s and a chance to find out about the variety of facilities and support available for postgraduate students.

This is a great opportunity to speak to staff directly and to find out what opportunities exist to make the most out of your postgraduate experience.

Culture Night Belfast

Culture Night Belfast

Friday 21 September, 13.00, 22.00, Belfast City

Culture Night Belfast, has become one of the highlights of Belfast’s cultural calendar. It takes place in September and brings together over 300 free events across 150 locations in Belfast City Centre in a single day. The event attracts over 100,000 visitors from Belfast, Northern Ireland and beyond.

This year, Culture Night will take place on Friday 21st September 2018. It kicks off at 1pm and will go on till 10pm. 2018 is set to be a huge year as Culture Night celebrates it's 10th anniversary! Come and join in the fun!
