Upcoming and Ongoing Postgraduate-led Initiatives

Mindful Meditation Practices through the Creative Arts
Feb 24th at 2:30pm

All QUB postgraduate students are welcome to join this PG Led-Initiative on February 24th @ 2:30pm. This event will offer a doctoral student’s perspective on learning about the practice and the role that creative outlets such as photography can play in the mindful meditation practice.  The first part of the event will offer mindful meditation led by instructor, Orla Wallace and the second part will involve a discussion of a student’s perspective of the role of creativity in the practice.

University wellbeing resources will also be included.

For more information about this event, PG students can email Catharine at cmcglade06@qub.ac.uk

QUB VOICES
Postgraduate Podcast:

The QUB Voices podcast showcases PhD research at Queen’s, giving postgraduate students an opportunity to share, discuss and promote their projects. It also provides an opportunity for postgrads to discuss any issues affecting or interesting them in society (such as Covid-19, racism, mental health)  and offer advice to prospective students. Episodes are released fortnightly on a Friday, alternating between a thematic episode discussing current issues and a spotlight episode, highlighting research being done in this area.

You can listen now on Spotify and Apple Podcasts and follow updates on Twitter @qubvoices. If you have an idea for an episode or want your research to be featured, you can email us at qubvoices@qub.ac.uk.

Virtual Co-Working Space
PGT and PGR students are warmly invited to join the newly-launched virtual co-working space on Teams

Virtual co-working spaces help to create a sense of community and solidarity with others (especially when opportunities to meet and work together in person are limited). It’s a good chance to get to know new people and helps you feel a little less isolated. There are also productivity benefits too. The feeling of sharing a virtual space with other people – even strangers – helps many people focus and makes them feel accountable for how they’re spending their time. It’s a great way to get started on a task you’ve been putting off!

Work on whatever you like; catching up on lectures, reading, writing, working on an assignment, cleaning and tidying or answering emails. Use this space to cross off any tasks on your to-do list.

Meetings run Monday to Friday, from 9am – 3pm. You can join as often as you like and stay for as long as you like. We spend 10 minutes at the start of every hour sharing our goals for the upcoming session (either by mic or using the chat function) and then work for 50 minutes.

To join the Teams channel, use join code lsq9vni. More information is available under the ‘About’ tab. Alternatively, email qubvirtualcoworking@gmail.com for more details or to be added to the Team.
