Vice-Chancellor's Update

All Staff email regarding Vice-Chancellor's Update

Dear Colleague

Since I joined Queen’s at the beginning of August, my priority has been to get to know the University and specifically to engage with as many staff as possible. Over the past couple of months, I have really enjoyed visiting Schools and Directorates and discussing current issues and opportunities with you. It was invaluable for me to learn at first-hand about your successes and challenges. I have found these visits to be extremely useful and will now be taking forward a number of areas of work to address key issues that have been raised with me, indeed we have implemented some changes already.

I believe that it is important for me, and all members of the University Executive Board (UEB), to engage with staff as we value our discussions with you. So as well as following up with more School and Directorate visits, I will also be setting up a series of regular lunchtime discussion meetings between UEB and different groups of staff.  These lunches will begin in October and will run throughout the academic year.

While meeting with staff face-to-face is the ideal route of communication, I also want to keep you informed with a regular update so that you know about the latest news from my office. The update will be published on the Vice-Chancellor’s Office webpage and will also be accessible through the Round Up.

The first update can be accessed here.

I hope you find the updates useful. I would welcome your feedback on them as well as your ideas on the best route, and form, for communications from my office and UEB.  Please send your comments to vc.office@qub.ac.uk.

With best wishes

Ian
