Our Campus Commitment: Offering you a safe campus experience in 2020/21

  • How will the University support my learning and student experience in the coming academic year (2020/21)?

The University will commence teaching from 21 September as planned for most courses and we look forward to welcoming you for the start of the new term.

As we prepare for the new academic year and adapt to supporting your learning during the global coronavirus pandemic, the health and wellbeing of our students, staff and wider community remains our first priority. • International Baccalaureate examinations have been cancelled. How will this affect my application?

The International Baccalaureate Organisation (IBO) has confirmed that May 2020 examinations for the IB Diploma Programme will not be held in any country.  IB students will be awarded grades by the IBO for each of their registered subjects on the basis of coursework marks and predicted grades.

It is expected that the IBO will publish the IB results on 5 July 2020.  Queen’s University Belfast will accept the grades awarded in the IB Diploma this year as normal.  We anticipate that we will be able to make decisions on receipt of these results – please note that it can take us a number of days to process decisions.

  • I am from GB, how can I send my stuff over for the start of Sep 2020 term?

Parcel Force have a cost effective and reliable delivery service from GB to Belfast. Whilst there is a limit of 30 kilos on each parcel/package sent via Parcel Force, there are a number of private courier services that also offer a flexible delivery service from GB to Belfast.

  • Is the University accepting applications for 2020 entry?

We are still accepting applications for September 2020 entry. Students who wish to apply should make an application in the normal way.

We are continuing to monitor this situation closely and will update our FAQs with any changes – please check back here to make sure that there haven’t been any updates to our position before you make your application.

  • When is the next Open Day? Will it be virtual or can I come visit?

Whilst we are not yet in a position to offer a face to face visit, we are working towards organising a virtual open day.  In the meanwhile, you can register your interest in our Open Day here.
