Babita Sharma is an award-winning broadcaster, journalist, and author with over 20 years at the BBC, where she covered major global events including the COVID-19 pandemic, the 2020 U.S. elections, Brexit, and the Black Lives Matter movement. Her acclaimed book The Corner Shop explores the social history of Britain’s corner shops and was named a BBC Radio 4 Book of the Week and a Business Book Award winner.

She is also the author of the children’s series The Adventures of Priya Mistry and a passionate advocate for diversity and mental health, mentoring BAME journalists and serving as a Trustee for United for Global Mental Health and Crescent Arts NI. A Patron of the South Asian Heritage Trust and the Migration Museum, Babita continues to champion multicultural storytelling through her TED Talk on immigration and acclaimed BBC documentaries such as Dangerous Borders: The Story of India & Pakistan. Her contribution to journalism has earned her an Honorary Fellowship at Cardiff University and the prestigious Asian Achievement Award. Babita recently completed a Masters in poetry at Queens University, Belfast.
