The Pathway Opportunity Programme, a Social Charter Signature Project, is designed to provide an opportunity for students to experience life at Queen’s University. The programme is open to Year 13 students from throughout Northern Ireland with participants receiving a guaranteed admissions offer to Queen’s University. Successful applicants also receive a bursary on admission to the University.

 

Monday’s Welcome and Orientation event included talks from staff in the Whitla Hall, a tour of the campus, and hands on experience of the facilities in the Peter Froggatt Centre.

 

Addressing the launch event, Professor David Jones, Pro-Vice Chancellor for Education and Students congratulated the students on taking up what he described as a potentially life-changing experience. 

 

Outlining the six pathways in this year’s programme – Law, Business, Civil Engineering, Archaeology and Palaeoecology, Computer Science and Food Microbiology & Environment – Prof Jones added: “this programme is here to help you achieve something that you might not have thought possible”, and congratulated the students on their success.
