Jerusalem principals visit Belfast

A group of principals from schools in Jerusalem arrived in Belfast on Monday 12 March to hear how Shared Education has helped deliver social and educational benefits in Northern Ireland.

The 35-strong group, from Jewish, Orthodox Jewish and Palestinian Arabic schools across Jerusalem were shown around Queen’s and heard an address from Professor Tony Gallagher of the Centre for Shared Education on the education system in Northern Ireland, along with the experience and outcomes of the Sharing Education Programme, 2007-15.

Myriam Darmoni (pictured, with Professor Gallagher, left, and other delegates), Director of Civics and Shared Education in the Centre for Educational Technology, Tel Aviv, said: “Thanks to the Queen’s team we are going to schools, speaking with educators about sharing classes, and about building partnerships, which is very relevant to Israel-Palestine too”

The group will visit schools across NI to hear from teachers and the pupils about the benefits of shared education.
