Privy Council Notes:
- 17 Dec. 1703: ‘petition of David, earl of Portmore, and Katherine, countess of Dorchester, his wife, humbly praying to be relieved against a tax of four shillings in the pound for two years which, as the petitioners are informed, the parliament in Ireland have laid on the pension of the said countess, of five thousand pounds per annum by amendment of the bill now transmitted from thence’ . Though the bill is not named in this petition, the amendments made on 7 Jan. make it clear that the petition referred to this bill.
