Mr. Riah

An old Jewish man employed by Fascination Fledgeby to act as a money lender. Riah befriends Lizzie and aids her escape from Wrayburn and Headstone. He eventually makes a home with Jenny Wren after breaking from Fledgeby. Riah was a response to Mrs Eliza Davis’s objections to the Antisemitic stereotyping of Fagin in Oliver Twist.
