Advisory Board meets in Belfast

Prof Paul Bolton examines a poster presented by PhD students at the meeting in Belfast

The members of the A-SAIL Advisory Board visited Queen’s University Belfast for a two-day meeting from 31 March to 1 April.

Prof Marco Borghesi welcomed the board and gave an overview of the project, before members of the team summarised progress on the four Work Packages.

Tuesday closed with a poster session showcasing the research of many of the postgraduate students and research fellows associated with the project.

On Wednesday 1 April the leaders of the research team had the chance to draw on the international expertise of the Adisory Board to help plan a way forward for A-SAIL and set priorities for the coming months.

The members of the board are: Stuart Green, University Hospitals Birmingham; Prof Paul Bolton, University of Munich; Prof Massimo Ferrario, Instituto Nazionale di Fisica Nucleare (INFN); Prof Dewi Lewis, consultant at CERN; Prof Philippe Martin, French Alternative Energies and Atomic Energy Commission (CEA); Prof Nigel Woolsey University of York; and Lisa Sargeant of EPSRC.

At the close of the meeting Prof Stuart Green expressed satisfaction with the project on behalf of the Board, and thanked participants for their contributions.

The Advisory Board and research team will meet again early next year, in the run-up to the mid-term review.
