Research interests

I am a researcher with a strong interest in applied science, biological processes and renewable energies in the field of water, wastewater and municipal waste management. Over the last 5 years, I have worked successfully with microalgae production, harvesting, pre-treatments (thermal hydrolysis, enzymatic hydrolysis, ultrasound), anaerobic digestion process and biological degradation of FOGs (fats, oils and greases).

Current research

Development of macroalgae as a substrate for biogas production

The current research focuses on macroalgae biomass for energy production. Testing different algae species for methane production via anaerobic digestion, the project will optimize the digestion performances and it will evaluate potential benefits of an integrated biorefinery approach.
