Relaxation of solids after ultrashort proton irradiation
Following groundbreaking experiments in the Centre for Plasma Physics, we use kinetics and hydrodynamics models for long-time relaxation of solids irradiated by ultrashort proton pulse. There is no exhibiting model to fully explain the unexpectedly long relaxation of the electron-hole plasma created upon irradiation.
We are currently integrating the role of disorder and nanostructuring into an energy transport model transferred from semiconductor physics. Soon we will extend the existing model to the liquid phase, e.g., to model the irradiation of water because of its importance for medical applications.
