VHS tapes are a lot more durable than you may expect but still, they won’t last forever. The loss of picture quality we see is mainly due to age, over-playing and storage in damp or magnetic conditions. Simply put, the longer you leave your memories stored on VHS the more likely they will degrade or you will lose them all together. The best way of preserving memories stored on these tapes is to transfer them to a modern, digital format such as DVD or a digital file.
