The SITless study
The SITless study is funded by Horizon 2020, European Commission (€4.5 million). This is a multi-country study to develop and test the effectiveness of an intervention to address sedentary behaviours (like prolonged sitting) and to encourage more active lifestyles in older adults. Prolonged sitting has been identified as a risk factor for a number of non-communicable diseases like heart disease and diabetes. The Centre for Excellence for Public Health (Northern Ireland) is one of the project partners representing six different countries.
