Lauren is a 3rd year PhD student in the Centre for Public Health at Queen’s University Belfast supervised by Dr Michelle McKinley and Professor Jayne Woodside. Lauren graduated in July 2013 with a BSc (Hons) in Nutrition from Queen Margaret University, Edinburgh. Lauren’s PhD is investigating the effect of vitamin D3 supplementation on cardiovascular risk factors in people at high risk of type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular disease. The PhD project has been focussed around carrying out a randomised controlled trial to investigate this topic as well as carrying out a systematic review on the research area. Lauren’s main interests lie within Nutrition and disease and she is an active member of the Nutrition and Metabolism group at CPH.
