Sean joined the CDT in September 2018, having previously completed a BSc (Hons) in Chemistry at the University of Glasgow, and an MRes in Chemistry at the University of Surrey.
For his University of Glasgow Semester 1 Mini Project, Sean is working with Professor Stephen McVitie on:
Imaging magnetic structure in the electron microscope
This project will utilise software to calculate electron microscope images from magnetisation configurations. The calculations will be used to determine the range of values for imaging conditions where the imaging can be used to reconstruct the magnetisation. This will include parameter such as lens defocus, pixel size, domain wall width etc. Existing software will be used to perform the calculations.
