Year One Financials
Year One Research Support Costs
In year one of the CDT programme your studentship comes with additional funding to support the costs of specialized training such as Insights to Industry and the Innovation Academy, as well as purchasing start-up personal computer equipment for you. It also makes provision to cover mobility costs so that you can spend the allocated time at each institution, in line with the programme schedule i.e. semester one is spent at the University of Glasgow and semester two at Queen’s University Belfast.
Travel
The Centre will organise and cover reasonable travel costs between the two institutions in line with programme requirements. For the purposes of determining eligibility for support each student will be required to designate either QUB or UoG as their “primary institution”. The CDT will organise and pay for return travel from Belfast to Glasgow to enable QUB designated students to attend the University of Glasgow in semester one and, likewise, return travel from Glasgow to Belfast to enable UoG designated students to attend semester 2 at QUB. Travel to Dublin for the Innovation Academy will be arranged on your behalf by the Graduate School at QUB.
Accommodation
The Centre will organise University accommodation at both institutions, for those who require it. You are entitled to have the costs of one semester’s accommodation paid for you by the Centre. If you require accommodation for both semesters you must pay for one semester yourself. Accommodation in Dublin will be arranged on your behalf by the Graduate School at QUB for the Innovation Academy’s three-week residential module Creative Thinking and Innovation and for the one week module Opportunity Generation & Recognition.
Important Information Regarding Travel and Accommodation Bookings
ALL Year one costs are managed and administered directly by the Centre. All bookings will be made by the CDT Administrator, based at QUB, on your behalf and you are asked to respond quickly to requests for information regarding your travel and accommodation requirements so that bookings can be made efficiently and minimise costs.
