5th Annual Beaufort Marine Biodiscovery Meeting at QUB
Queen's University Belfast, 15-16th December 2014
The 2014 Annual Beaufort Marine Biodiscovery Meeting was held in the Canada Room at Queen's University Belfast on the 15 and 16th December.
With a packed schedule, delegates enjoyed numerous presentations which highlighted the outstanding research currently undertaken by project partners, NUI Galway, Queen’s University Belfast and University College Cork. This was combined with several keynote speakers from both academia and industry; Prof. Matthew Julius from St Cloud State University, Minnesota delivered a talk entitled How Much Do We Really Know about Microalgal Biodiversity, Should Application Drive Phylogenetic Inquiry? Dr Alice Stack from Marigot Ltd. Cork highlighted their success of utilising Irish marine sources in the development of commercial products and Dr Jane Mueller on behalf of the Almac Group discussed the need for the ‘Discovery and Utilisation of Novel Biocatalysts’.
