Beaufort Researchers from Galway featured in Nature

Dr Anne Marie Power and Jaimie-Leigh Jonker from NUIG have followed on from the success of their article in Scientific American with a feature in Nature. Selected as a Research Highlight from recent scientific literature it is a great opportunity for the team to attract further interest in their work.

 

Beaufort Scientists' work featured in Scientific American

The work of Beaufort Scientist, Dr Anne Marie Power from NUIG, was the focus of an article in Scientific American released today. Dr Power and PhD student, Jaime-Leigh Jonker have taken to social media sites Twitter and Facebook to enlist the help of the Public to track down sightings of the Goose Barnacle on Irish shores. Hopefully, with this extra publicity in Scientific American, the team will be inundated with fresh samples.

 

Biodiscovery Scientist makes EU Management Committee

Dr Anne Marie Power has been made a member of the Management Committee in the EU Cost Action TD0906 ‘Biological Adhesives: from biology to biomimetics’ (http://www.cost-bioadhesives.org/). There is to be an inaugural meeting of this group, which aims to accelerate progress in this area within Europe, in a few weeks’ time at the first ever International Conference on Biological and Biomimetic Adhesives in Lisbon, Portugal.

 

Attendance at European Biomaterials Network

Beaufort Marine Biodiscovery PI, Anne Marie Power (NUIG) will be attending the European Biomaterials Network at University of Mons, Belgium as a member of the management committee.  Please see EU COST Action TD0906 for details about how to join this network.
