Name of the Study:
LCI Healthy Controls
Lung Clearance index measurement in adult healthy controls
Why is this Study important?
Collection of normative multiple breath washout (MBW) data from adults is essential to facilitate analysis for local investigators. Currently we do not have this data. Accurate interpretation of MBW data requires comparison with normative values that are inert gas, equipment and software specific and age matched, in accordance with the consensus statement for inert gas without testing.
What is the Research question/aim?
The project aim is to establish a database of Nitrogen ,ultiple breath washout (N2 MBW) parameters (standard LCI, shortened LCI, phase II slope parameters) in a healthy control adult cohort to enable comparison with disease data.
What the Study involves:
A one off visit to the NICRF to complete two lung function tests
Who can take part in the Study?
Healthy volunteers aged 18-80, have no respiratory conditions (e.g. asthma) and not taking any respiratory medicine (e.g. inhalers)
