The Stable Isotope Facility (SIF) of EERC specialises in routine stable isotope analysis (C, H, N, O, S) for the environmental, ecological and geo-forensic disciplines.

We encourage academic collaboration but we also operate on a commercial basis.

Analytical Equipment


Thermo Delta V Isotope Ratio Mass Spectrometer (IRMS) 
with EA for δ34S analysis from solid matter, TC/EA for δ18O and δ2H from solid matter and GC-PAL autosampler for δ18O and δ2H from waters and headspace gas.

Thermo Delta Plus Advantage IRMS with Trace DSQ,Trace GC and ISOLINK HPLC
for simultaneous acquisition of structural information and compound specific isotope analysis (δ13C) with a single GC injection.

The Thermo ISOLINK allows δ13C measurement of liquid complexes useful in a number of
fields including food analysis and molecular biogeochemistry. 

Analytical Precision 2003 IRMS with Acid Digestor 
for the δ13C and δ18O analysis of carbonates 

with associated peripherals for δ15N and δ18O of nitrates and atmospheric trace gas

for measurement of δ13C and δ15N in organic matter
